2011 League Information

In an effort to secure quality games against top Northern California competition, Headfirst Baseball created the “Headfirst Wood Bat Summer League” in 2010. For the 2011 season, we will have 14U, 15U, 16U, 18U and 19U divisions. Headfirst invited many of the top organizations around to participate. Each team will play one another twice and the top two performers in each division will face off at the end of the season on a Division 1 college field at the University of San Francisco! After each game, coaches will report the results so all teams can monitor their success in relation to the other teams in the league. Check the standings throughout the summer to see which teams will be the final two and earn the right to play on Benedetti Diamond in the end!

12U Wood Bat Tournament

The 7th Annual Headfirst Wood Bat Tournament will be held on Saturday and Sunday July 23/24th at Marshall Field in Castro Valley. This tournament was started seven years ago after HF staff recruited players from all around the Bay Area to play in a competitive atmosphere. A favorite among local youth players, many of the participants have went on to play college and professional baseball.

Teams will play two games on Saturday and Sunday is decided by Saturday’s team records. Each team is coached by Headfirst staff. Twelve year olds may enter the homerun derby if they wish. Eleven year olds have to hit a homerun in a game or show power potential to be selected.

Please check rosters and game times on Friday night as a last minute trade may happen.

Please have players check in 45 minutes before first game. They will stretch 30 minutes before each game. There will be a BBQ and full snack bar held by CVI Baseball. Parking for event is on the street. Do not block any drive ways as they will tow cars.

LOCATION – Marshall Field – 20111 Marshall St, Castro Valley, CA

COST- $100

From Dublin- 580,Exit First CV exit, Left on CV BLVD, Right on Marshall (Rite Aid), Go to end and turn left. Field is on left.

From Oakland- 580, exit Grove Way, Right on Grove, Right on Center, Left on CV BLVD, Right on Marshall, Left at end of st.

Headfirst opens new facility in Pleasanton!

Headfirst Baseball is excited to announce the opening of the new, HF Bercovich Baseball Acceleration Facility in Pleasanton. The academy will be the home of the Headfirst Gamers and HF Bercovich teams as well as a full time training facility. Headfirst will offer classes and the new ”B.A.T. 6 Tool Development Program”, that is open to all players. We will also offer rentals of cages or entire facility to individuals or teams. The 3000 sq ft. facilty will include two 55ft cages, a pitching tunnel, areas for tee work, J band work, and more!

Cage Rentals: $60 per cage per hour- $100 to rent entire academy per hour

B.A.T. (Baseball Acceleration Training) 6 Tool Development Program: This class will be offered on Sunday evenings. Please see website for more infromation.

MLK Pre-Season College Camp

After talking to many colleges about their immediate and long term needs, Headfirst is introducing the MLK College Camp on Monday, January 17 at USF. There are already 10 schools/pro scouts (see below) lined up to work the camp and we are adding more daily as they become aware of the event.

College and pro coaches are anxious to work with you and you have to understand that MLK day is a long practice day at the college level and LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY FROM THE SEASON FOR COLLEGE PROGRAMS! In other words, it is a big sacrifice for them to leave campus and they are ONLY attending to work with top talent. These are not schools going out of convenience but because they have money and/or roster spots in the ’11 and/or ’12 class for impact players! Schools only go out to see their recruited players during the high school season so this is the time to gain significant interest and to be that player who is followed strongly during the next few months.

During the Fall, each school did early recruiting and also saw what their needs were based on their team’s Fall Ball. They saw frosh players for the first time, were pleased with some players, disappointed in others and are much more aware of what they need to win games. They also went after their recruits and signed some while others signed elsewhere. The bottom line is that they still are recruiting all grades, do not stop working year round and have a much more acute awareness of their needs in January than they did in the Fall. In the meantime, there are many uncommitted high schoolers who would benefit from playing in front of these schools, whether they are seniors or younger students. Headfirst has many attractive players that these schools need to see in order to help both sides with the recruiting process.

Numbers will be limited so it is critical to reserve your spot immediately. Players will be invited to the Headfirst MLK Camp daily. This camp will also feature a “Meet n Greet” with the coaches, a time where players and parents can make introductions and have personal interaction and initiate dialogue with coaches! I will be sending the player list to colleges weekly so it is imperative for you to e mail me back to confirm that you will be attending.
